My project was simple. Remove and replace 2 horizontal pine boards on my back fence, remove and replace the pine picket fencing and stain the fencing and the 2 boards. This was all I asked for. The picket fencing cost less that $2.00 a picket for total of $60 as I have a small yard. If the 2 pine boards were $50 each the total materials cost approximated out to be $160, I provided the stain. What I got in place of this was a completely new cedar fence and new gate that cost me $2000 none of which I asked for. I asked 'B' to explain the invoice, as it had no detail, just one line for $2000, he stated that he "wanted to do the best for the customer" and that best was a $2000 cedar fence apparently. This was a decision and choice that 'B' made all on his own. We did not talk about building a cedar fence and I most definitely never got an estimate to build a completely new cedar fence as I would have said "NO". When I was explaining the project of replacing the pine board and fencing, 'B' shook his head 'no' and said 'cedar'. I replied "no, I do not want cedar boards or fencing, this is a pine fence, just replace pine for pine." Later that day, between meetings, I went out to check in with 'B' and saw that he had built a completely new gate designed to swing out, over the rocky incline. This would have been needed if I had approved the cost estimate for a new deck that came up against the fence but I said "NO" to building a new deck as the cost estimate was over $10,000 for a small townhome deck. The gate originally opened to the inside of my yard so I could get in an out. But now I have a new cedar gate that was designed to swing outward but is stopped by the rocks and the incline, so, consequently I cannot get out of my back yard. The short of the story...I was forced to pay $2000 for a fence I did not ask for and now are trapped inside my backyard as I cannot get through the gate. 'B' had no right to change the scope of the job and even less right to spend my money without the approval of an estimate. By my estimate, 'B' doing what he wanted and not what I asked for cost me $1,500 more than what it should have cost. I love Ace and have shopped there for decades. But maybe branching out by providing handy-man services was a mistake. I will never get the $1,500 back.

Handyman Chris Showed up to install some awnings. I had really bad suspicion that he did not know what he was doing from the fact it took him 45 mins to access the job and he hadn’t even opened up and laid out the awnings to be installed. I almost told him never mind, but chickened out and didn’t want to send him packing. Stupid stupid me for not listing to my intuition. It is a totally ridiculous job that Chris did. The awnings are installed crooked, one not put up at all, shades were not working and not installed with all the peices and HE LEFT THE JOB. Again, stupid me! I paid Ace Handyman $500 JUST ado I could get him to Leave. I was soo upset I was almost crying and didn’t want him to see me cry. Now it is 2 months later and we keep having rescheduling issues. UGH! What a S**T SHOW!!!

Matt was great and while I’m exhausted, he was raring to go. We were trying to move things around in my garage and I had some things on high shelves and some heavy things outside to deal with. Looking forward to my next project inside and I’ll be calling Ace Handyman Services in the future.

John was punctual, pleasant, friendly, and efficient. He completed construction of a bookcase ahead of time and under budget!

Kipp came out to repair stone on our deck. He was on time and courteous. He talked me through the best avenue for repair and came in way under the original estimate. He also fixed some of the cracks on our other posts. Post now look like new.

Ace handyman helped me purchase a less expensive more appropriate fixture and he installed it well. He also recommended we not do a larger project while recommending what we could do with a very old kitchen cabinet.

Matt used his creative experience to affix some large swinging door for an archway that had studs only in the top portion & drywall only in the bottom. Also by a small shim was able to provide near perfect allignment.

Victoria was knowledgeable and very thorough. She was right on time and made sure all aspects of the job were done completely. I will definitely use Ace Handyman again.
