This is the second time using Ace. This time they installed a custom barn door. They came back on a Saturday because of the complexity of the item and ensured they had all the correct tools to complete the job and time needed. Also cleaned up and made sure the door was spotless before they left. Also very friendly, professional, and experienced.

We had a very frustrating issue with a door jamb and a door that stuck badly after another contractor botched the job. Luther came and very professionally evaluated the problem and I had a quote shortly thereafter. Setting up the appointment to get the work done was a breeze. Kevin came and took care of it, on time, and went the extra mile to make it look good. None of this “window” from 8am-12pm for service that you get with so many contractors. The bill even came in slightly under the quote, was easily paid on site and a receipt in my inbox before I sat down again. Very happy with this service. Will be using them again!

We had three or four relatively small jobs (replacing a hinge on cabinet door, fixing an arm on dining room chair et al.) and requested a visit and estimate. A personable rep showed up at the appointed time and we talked about the jobs and he was at the house for about an hour. He spent about 20 minutes beginning two of the jobs. Several weeks later we finally received an estimate (including future billing for the 20 minutes of work begun). The estimate included 75 minutes for work performed during the initial visit (at $118 per hour). It also included another hour of labor to complete the initial work at the same rate. This work ultimately took about 15 minutes to complete. The estimate included a $60 service charge above and beyond the $118 hourly rate. Between the first and second (final) visit (three weeks later) we had an animated discussion with the Handyman office representative and expressed our disapproval of the estimate and inflated (in our opinion) costs. We agreed to pay the labor and material charges for the two visits (ultimately just over $300 to replace a hinge on a cabinet door after wood putty and been applied to an area that had been stripped out, and to glue, hammer in a few penny nails and finish with colored filler on the arm of a dining chair). We said we would not pay the $60 service charge for the work since we believed the labor charge of $118 per hour should be sufficient. We passed on any additional work that had not been begun. This would have been a one-star rating had the business not worked with us and agreed to modified charges. The reps are personable, polite and friendly. The work performed was adequate. The pricing is outrageous. If this was a car repair business, you would call them a new car dealership without the new cars. Enough said.

It's great some people have had their projects completed; however, if you can't get a response from Ace Handyman Services, it is very hard to do business with them. After getting a business card from an Ace Hardware store in my area and leaving 2 telephone messages and sending 1 email within the past week, I have received no response.

Kevin arrived on time and was friendly and professional with no wasted small talk. Kevin ensured he had my input as he completed each item on my To Do list. I highly recommend Kevin and will use the services again.
